What is the Central Committee?
San Diego’s Democratic Party Central Committee is comprised of local Democrats elected by voters in each Assembly District during Presidential years, as well as partisan-level Democratic elected officials and nominees.
The Democratic Central Committee conducts the Party’s general business, approves its budget, coordinates Democratic campaign activity, and endorses candidates for local offices.
They are also responsible for deciding how to spend millions of dollars in political donations.
Essentially, it’s a political position that impacts large-scale party decisions.
For example, Democratic party candidate endorsements are largely determined by its Central Committee — for voters, this means who and what gets most exposure through use of increased budget funds, and even issues and candidates that show up on your ballot.
